The Rohini Commission formed to examine the sub-categorisation of Other Backward Classes (OBCs), has submitted its report to President Droupadi Murmu. The retired chief justice of the Delhi High Court Justice G Rohini is the chairperson of the Commission.
The Commission was appointed through a notification dated October 2, 2017, to examine the sub-categorisation of OBCs.
After 13 extensions, the commission submitted its report to President Droupadi Murmu on Monday, the Social Justice Ministry said in a statement. The Commission had been entrusted with the task to study the various entries in the Central List of OBCs.
“The Commission had been entrusted the task to study the various entries in the Central List of OBCs and recommend correction of any repetitions, ambiguities, inconsistencies and errors of spellings or transcription; to examine the extent of inequitable distribution of benefits of reservation among the OBCs; and to work out the mechanism, criteria, norms and parameters, in a scientific approach, for sub-categorization within such OBCs,” the statement added.
