RSS President Mohan Bhagwat will launch the first Urdu translation of the Samaveda, one of the four Vedas, at an event to be organised at Red Fort on Friday, The Indian Express has reported. The translation has been done by Bollywood scriptwriter and filmmaker Iqbal Durrani. The event’s organiser Jeevakant Jha told The Indian Express that a study of the Samaveda could foster love and affection between Hindus and Muslims. He said the idea is to tell Muslims that the Samaveda was for them as well, as it is “a cultural text” and “not a religious text”.
