The Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain the plea seeking revocation of CBFC certification for the controversial film Adipurush.

Everyone is touchy about everything now…tolerance for movies, books is going down,” Justice SK Kaul remarked while declining relief under Article 32.

The apex court also stayed the proceedings pending before different high courts against the makers of the movie.

The top court also issued notice on an appeal filed by the makers of the film against the Allahabad High Court order, asking them to appear before it on July 27.

Earlier, on June 30, The Allahabad High Court had directed the makers of the movie to appear before it on July 27. It has also directed the central government to constitute a five-member committee to give its view on the film as to whether it has hurt the feelings of the public.

The film Adipurush was heavily criticised for distorting and insulting the sacred Hindu scripture Ramayana and Hindu deities.
