Telangana state assembly on September 13, 2022, unanimously adopted a resolution requesting the Centre to name the new Parliament building being built at Central Vista in New Delhi after Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. The resolution was moved by K T Rama Rao, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development in the Telangana state government. Rao said:

This House has unanimously resolved to urge the Central government to name the newly constructed Parliament House after Bharat Ratna BR Ambedkar who was the architect of the Indian Constitution, reformer, and who fought vehemently for social equality.

“Today, when we talk of India as the largest democracy in the world, it is because Ambedkar believed in democracy. The people of Telangana will forever be indebted to him”, Rao said.

Rao added:

If today we are sitting in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, debating various issues and making legislations, the credit goes to Ambedkar entirely. Telangana state became a reality due to Article 3 incorporated by Ambedkar in the Constitution which gave power to Parliament to bifurcate a state irrespective of whether the respective state Assembly approved bifurcation or not. There is no Telangana state or Telangana Assembly if there is no Ambedkar or Article 3.
