Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), M Jagadesh Kumar has directed the students of higher education institutions to post a selfie with the National Flag. The announcement came in the online meeting organized by the UGC Chairman on August 1, 2022. Furthermore, the Chairman said that students can pin their locations on the website.
The decision is taken as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign launched by the central government. The campaign has been launched as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. As part of the campaign, the government has asked the people to hoist the national flag over their houses on 15 August.
Schools, colleges, and educational institutions across the country are directed by the UGC to celebrate Independence Day. Educational institutions are asked to hoist the National Flag on their premises in the morning after 9 am on 15 August. UGC has also suggested organizing a virtual ceremony for the flag housing ceremony, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
