Muslims in Bairamnagar village of the Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh forcefully stopped the construction of a Hindu temple in the village. They also reportedly publicly threatened to close down the businesses of Hindus. Bairamnagar is a Muslim-majority village. It was announced by the Muslims that no person in the village would buy goods from Hindus. The incident came to light after a villager uploaded the video of the Muslims threatening Hindus on social media.

As per the report published in Dainik Jagran, Hindus had built a well in the village. A small Shivling is placed near the well. When some children put bricks there, Muslims started protesting against it and said that the construction of the temple would not be allowed. Hindus of Bairamnagar met the SSP Akhilesh Chaurasiya and demanded police intervention in the matter by submitting a written appeal.

Bareilly SP Rural, Rajkumar Aggarwal said on the matter:

The dispute has been resolved through talks between both sides. The Hindu side has informed in their appeal that the construction of the temple was done as per the rules after obtaining the required permission. There is no tension between both sides in the village now. Some people are trying to create unnecessary tension in the village. Strict action will be taken against them.
