A National Investigation Agency (NIA) official suffered minor injuries after his team of officials were attacked in West Bengal’s Bhupatinagar area on Saturday morning.

The NIA team was visiting the area in connection with the investigation into the Bhupatinagar blast case of December 2022.

A team of NIA officials arrested two persons in connection with the case and were on their way back to Kolkata, when the vehicle came under attack.

“Locals gheraoed the vehicle and pelted stones at it. The NIA has said one of its officers was also injured,” a senior police official said. The NIA has also lodged a police complaint in this regard, he added.

The explosion due to crude bombs on December 3, 2022, had claimed three lives.
