Donald Trump on Saturday won the Republican caucuses in Michigan, Missouri and Idaho.  In all three states, Trump trounced Nikki Haley, his last remaining rival for the Republican presidential nomination, moving him closer to becoming his party’s White House standard-bearer and a likely general election rematch with President Joe Biden.
Trump has won every state contest so far in a landslide and expects to clinch the nomination by mid-March. However, Haley, the former U.N. ambassador urging her party to move on from the former president, has pledged to remain in the race at least through Super Tuesday next week, when 15 states will vote at once along with American Samoa.
“She’s bad news,” Trump said. “I know her very well. She’s very average.”
Haley, speaking the same day in Raleigh, N.C., said Biden was not solely to blame for the country’s economic woes. “Donald Trump and our Republicans did that to us, too,” she said.
